From November 24 through December 4, only the villa will be open—the gallery spaces will remain closed. Admission to the collection is free during this time.

Architecture

The Genevan architect Maurice Turrettini built the ‘Am Römerholz’ villa between 1915 and 1918 for Jakob Heinrich Ziegler-Sulzer; a stately residence inspired by the Italian Renaissance and Eighteenth-Century France. Following Oskar Reinhart’s acquisition of the property in 1924, he added a bright and airy picture gallery. With its serene and clear spaces, it provided ideal conditions for displaying his collection with maximum impact.

Today, the ‘Am Römerholz’ villa is far more than an exhibition space – it is an integral part of the collection. Despite being part of the museum, the rooms retain their original character and convey an atmosphere reminiscent of the intimacy found in a private collection.
