Our series of events and workshops

Advent lighting in Römerholz

Every Sunday during Advent from 3 p.m. and every Wednesday evening in December, the Renaissance paintings in the collection are illuminated in a special light – just as they would have been viewed by candlelight in the past. Afterwards, you can round off your visit in the museum café, or on the terrace if the weather is good, with homemade mulled wine and punch. Admission to the collection is free on Wednesdays from 5 pm to 8 pm.

Public guided tour of the collection

Every Sunday from 11.30 a.m. to 12.15 p.m., a public guided tour of the exhibition and the collection is offered. On the first Sunday of the month, the tour focuses on the collector and his picture hanging. The regular admission price includes the guided tour. No registration required.

Torchlight tour

Evenings at the museum: illuminated only by torchlight, the pictures appear in a completely different light. Things that cannot be seen during the day suddenly become visible. Torches are provided and admission is free.

Art Time Machine

A workshop for children in the collection and in the museum studio: together with art educators Carla Isler and Gabriela Lüber, the art time travellers discover Oskar Reinhart's collection.
The Art Time Machine is aimed at all children aged 4 to 12.
The Art Time Machine in Russian is offered to all children aged 4 to 12 who understand Russian. Art educator Alina Gnatyshina explores the collection with the children before they can draw, paint or do crafts themselves in the studio.
Registration is required by calling 058 466 77 40 or emailing sorfuehrungen@bak.admin.ch. The number of participants is limited.

Workshops for young people and adults

With brush and easel

Painting in the collection itself. During the workshop, you will explore individual works in the collection together with art educator Gabriela Lüber before trying out new painting techniques yourself.

With pencil and sketchbook

During the workshop, you will have the opportunity to draw in the collection yourself and fill your sketchbook. The workshop with Carla Isler is about looking closely and comparing, but above all about the joy of trying things out – no previous knowledge is required.

The number of participants is limited. Registration for the workshops is required by calling 058 466 77 40 or emailing sorfuehrungen@bak.admin.ch. The contribution towards costs (including materials) is CHF 20. We will provide the materials.

Guided tour for migrants: Collecting art/stories

A guided tour for migrants, but also for anyone else who is interested. The focus is on viewing art and sharing ideas with other participants. Engage in conversation in front of works of art and give space to your own experiences – let's collect art/stories together!

The tour is free of charge, as is admission for migrants. No registration is required.
