Short text on the collection

Oskar Reinhart Collection ‘Am Römerholz’

The former villa of art collector Oskar Reinhart (1885-1965), which is beautifully situated in Winterthur on the edge of a forest, houses one of the most significant private art collections of the 20th century. Outstanding French Impressionist paintings enter into a fascinating dialogue with masterpieces from earlier eras. The collection ranges from works by Lucas Cranach the Elder via Goya and Chardin through to Cézanne, van Gogh and the early Picasso. Unrivalled late works by Géricault and Manet, not to mention groups of works by Delacroix, Courbet, Corot, Daumier and Renoir, all illustrate the focus of the collection. The property is set in pleasant park grounds featuring important sculptures and an appealing café.
