2015 anniversary

‘Glänzende EigenArt'

A day marking the 50th anniversary of the death of collector Oskar Reinhart

Friday, 11 September 2015

Collecting dominated the life of Oskar Reinhart (1965-1885). The two Reinhart museums in Winterthur provide eloquent testimony to this passion. A wide-ranging sequence of events celebrating his achievements was being mounted to mark the fiftieth anniversary of his death. The day began with an official ceremony in the Stadthaus. This was followed by a presentation at the Oskar Reinhart Museum. Finally, in the afternoon, a colloquium addressing various aspects of Reinhart's collecting toke place in the picture gallery of the museum ‘Am Römerholz'.
Detailed information will be found below.

The colloquium in the Oskar Reinhart Collection ‘Am Römerholz' examined various aspects of Reinhart's activity as a collector. The contributions aimed to supplement the symposium held in the museum on 7 and 8 September 2012. That symposium, its proceedings now published in German in book form, focused on the international context from which Reinhart's ideas about art grew, whereas the 2015 colloquium addressed facets of his collecting that relate more closely to his personal origins and reveal a notably individual approach to art.
