Ami et collectionneur des impressionistes, Renoir, Cézanne, Monet, Manet, Hirmer Verlag, Munich, 2015, ISBN 978-3-7774-2562-7

This publication accompanies the fifth exhibition presented by the Oskar Reinhart Collection ‘Am Römerholz'. Victor Chocquet was both an admirer of Eugène Delacroix's work and one of the first collectors of French Impressionism. He and Paul Cézanne became close friends and, undaunted by caustic criticism, Chocquet selflessly did his utmost to gain public recognition for Cézanne's art. In the end the outstanding feature of his collection was a group of works by Cézanne. His collection also included exquisite paintings by Renoir, Monet, Manet and Courbet and an important group of works by Delacroix. In-depth essays on the collector and his relationships with individual artists as well as illustrations of selected, representative works from his collection present a comprehensive portrait of this important champion of the Impressionists.
