The archive

Oskar Reinhart was more of a visual than a verbal person. Thus the many written documents he left behind do not always make it clear why his collection took shape the way it did. Yet they do disclose his basic philosophy, and they show how intimately acquainted he was with the art market, museums and private collections of his time. In fact, Reinhart's written legacy adds up to a detailed picture of the contemporary art world, especially in Europe and especially with regard to dealers and private collectors.

The archive of the Oskar Reinhart Collection ʻAm Römerholz̕ is open by arrangement to anyone engaged in research into the history of the art market and related subjects.
